The Dining Room, Casual Edition.
With Temple & Webster
So, let’s start at the beginning.
This room didn’t always look like this. Hard to imagine but a few short weeks ago this space was the complete opposite. It’s the last room of our house, and adjoins onto the kitchen. You may think I am a crazy lady for covering up a wall of floor to ceiling french doors but I have always had a thing for floor length curtains. I know I’m not alone, #ladiesamiright?
I always knew it would be the perfect space to create a dining room but it was hard to find the right vibe. I am not someone who would create a super formal dining area, I prefer my home to be more relaxed and cozy.
After chatting with the team at Temple & Webster, we decided to go for it! We would turn this empty space into a casual dining area, and not only did we do just that, we also turned it into the perfect space for me to work during the day. Talk about a win-win.
The first step was adding some beautiful long, white, flowy curtains. I opted for black curtain rods and wall brakes, I think they create a more modern feel. Once the curtains were up, the space changed completely, and now it just needed it’s core furniture.
We selected the Ash Coco Dining Table, I was really drawn to the pale timber and the super funky legs. Also the fact that it was round was perfect for me. As the room itself it’s not very big I thought the best way to utilise the space was to choose a table this shape, and then have it placed the corner of the room. It’s just myself and my partner Luke at home, so a table fit for two is perfect.
For chairs we chose the Hans Wegner Replica Wishbone Chairs. A friend of mine has these and I have been obsessed with them ever since. Also handy is that they come in a pack of two, meant to be right?
And finally we needed a rug! I fell in love with the Floti Scandinavian Style Flatweave Style Rug instantly, I love the patterns, colours and the slight Moroccan vibe. Plus is feels amazing, I spot my dog Oskar snoozing on it constantly.
I am so thrilled with how the space turned out, it feels like a completely different room considering how it looked before we got started, (damn I wish I took a photo). Big love to the team at Temple & Webster for working with me on this project, I couldn’t have done it without your help!
